This is a black Volquartsen V-comp or Vertical Compensator.  It works by slipping over the end of a bull barrel and when the gun is fired it redirects the exhaust gas from forward to the vertical.

I know many people think, ".22 has no recoil".  Well when you are shooting Bullseye: 5 shots in 10 seconds at a distance of 25 yards you will find plenty of movement after each shot.  This V-comp minimizes the amount of lift after each shot so the amount of time usually spent recovering from a shot is now used as time to aim.

(Note: prolonged use of the V-comp will remove some of the blueing at the end of the barrel, this is not a problem if care is taken to minimize rust.)

Installation

1. Use a flat head screwdriver the same width as the screw and remove the front sight.

2.  You may need to sand a little bit on the inside of the v-comp to allow it to slide on better.

3.  Slide the v-comp on over the end of the barrel and line up the hole in the v-comp with the front sight screw hole.

4.  Use the supplied Allen screw and wrench to secure the v-comp. (loc-tite can be used here to secure the screw)
